Xiaomi Redmi 5 third variation is here (4GB RAM & 32GB Storage)
Previously, the Redmi 5 was available with either 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage, or 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. A third variation, which brings 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage and is also available now. We are not sure why Xiaomi decided to release this third variant, but more memory is always welcome.
You can have the Redmi 5 with 4GB of RAM in black, gold, or blue. Every spec aside from the memory capacity is identical to the other models, so you still get the same 5.7″ 1,440×720 18:9 touchscreen, Snapdragon 450 SoC, 12 MP main camera, 5 MP selfie snapper, and 3,300 mAh battery, along with MIUI 9.1 plastered atop Android 7.1.2 Nougat.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 450 chipset and a 3,300 mAh battery power the Redmi 5, though the phone sadly features micro USB instead of USB Type-C. That blow is softened by the low price tag, but micro USB is quickly becoming a legacy connector.
The Redmi 5 Plus, meanwhile, sports a larger display with higher resolution, Snapdragon 625 processor, and larger 4,000 mAh battery. You also get 64 GB of storage, so long as you are okay with 4 GB of RAM.
