eSewa Fonepay Pvt. Ltd and UnionPay International Co. Ltd signed an agreement to launch a QR code based mobile payment solution in Nepal. Through this, UnionPay customers from Nepal as well as abroad can make mobile payments using QR codes at various merchant outlets in the country. Mr. Shuan Philip Ghaidan, product Director of UnionPay International Co. Ltd. (UPI) inaugurated the ceremony on December 11, 2018 held in Hattisar, Kathmandu at the premises of F1Soft International Pvt. Ltd, the parent company of eSewa Fonepay. Mr. Biswas Dhakal, chairman and president of F1Soft signed the agreement on behalf of eSewa Fonepay. QR payment is a frictionless mobile payment method which is an alternative to costly electronic fund transfers such as card payments at point of sale using a payment terminals.
